Human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV, is the virus that causes AIDS. HIV/AIDS weakens a person's ability to fight infections. It is contracted through unprotected sex or needle sharing. An HIV test confirms diagnosis. Medications may suppress the virus and delay the onset of AIDS.

Health is such an important component, which is essential to the sustained economic and social development of every nation — a healthy nation is a wealthy nation. Beta Care Community Hospital is committed to health care for all in the community through inpatient and outpatient services. The provision of health is in line with the government's agenda, with health for all and control of the HIV/AIDS pandemic among the major policy programmes.

Living with HIV is much different now than it was in the early 1990s. For many people, new treatments and aggressive therapies have substantially slowed the progression of HIV to AIDS. That does not mean that living with HIV/AIDS is not a challenge, but it does not have to be overwhelming.

Beta Care has an extensive network of AIDS service organizations and HIV-specific clinics for medical care, and the HIV and AIDS Department of Health also provides several programmes that may be extremely helpful.
